HHRD has been at work in Pakistan since 2005. The Shelter Relief Program continues to deliver long term solutions to rural communities affected by the floods of 2022, including 622 new homes. Each sturdy, weather resistant home features a porch, restroom, electricity, kitchen, bedroom, running water, and a flood resistant foundation. HHRD also deliver 1 model village in Chak Patyat, Punjab with school, playgroud, masjid, and healthcare clinic. The homes help uplift the communities that sustained damage, allowing residents to return to work and school without interruption.
On February 6, 2023, record earthquakes in Turkey and northwestern Syria claimed tens of thousands of lives. In response, HHRD constructed two entire villages from the ground up, transforming the desert landscape into a new home for displaced families. Each village features 250 homes, a school, a mosque, a playground, and a commercial district.
HHRD established a presence in Morocco to provide food supplies and Qurbani meat. When the earthquake occurred on September 8, 2023, the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) team-initiated relief efforts. In 2023 HHRD provided 169 caravan homes in the Taroudant & Al-Houz regions near Marrakech with 2 Social Centers, 4 Public Restroom Units with 6 Stalls Each, 2 Public Kitchens, 2 Classrooms, 1 Mosque, and Healthcare center.
A series of earthquakes struck Afghanistan in late 2023 bringing immediate and catastrophic damage to a population already under duress. Three districts and 15 villages were affected by the earthquake; 12 villages were completely destroyed. HHRD built 80 brick-and-mortar homes with solar panels for needy families.
DONATE NOW
As we continue to support refugees in Bangladesh, Jordan and Northern Syria, HHRD has substantial long-term plans in other regions including Pakistan and Afghanistan. 2025 may witness the construction of another major project in Northern Syria & in Pakistan. HHRD also intends to begin recovery efforts in the Gaza strip, though plans are understandably fluid at this point. SRP will continue to focus on long term development projects that have the potential to elevate populations beyond the status quo.
