Türkiye-Syria Earthquake Relief

In February 2023, record earthquakes in Türkiye and Northwestern Syria took the lives of over 54,000 people, leaving over 116,000 people injured. HHRD has since conducted relief and rebuilding operations in the region. After initial emergency assistance with food and essential supplies, HHRD began to help reconstruct homes and rebuild lives. HHRD constructed 500 homes in 2 Villages and several washroom facilities. Between September 2024 and February 2025, HHRD is constructing a third Village of 212 homes for Syrian families.

Senior staff members from our MENA office in Jordan were among the first responders to arrive in Türkiye just days after the catastrophe. HHRD CEO Javaid Siddiqi also arrived in the region to oversee ground relief efforts and personally coordinate operations. Food, clothing, coal for heat, and other essentials were provided. For long term developmental activities HHRD started the Orphan Support Program, Skills Development & Livelihood initiatives, and other programs.
