On November 3rd, 2023, at 11:47 pm local time, a powerful 6.4 magnitude earthquake struck the Karnali Province in western Nepal, reaching a depth of 11 miles. This seismic event unleashed a series of 382 aftershocks, leaving over 1.3 million people exposed to the harsh elements, with 190,000+ directly affected. 153 people have been reported dead, while more than 338 individuals sustained injuries.

HHRD has been actively engaged in Nepal since 2015, extending our services to both the local Nepalese communities and Rohingya refugees. Our ongoing efforts include the care of 700 orphans, the construction of multiple water projects each year, skills development and livelihood programs benefitting over 150 trainees annually, a comprehensive healthcare and nutrition initiative that includes medical in-kind gifts, and seasonal projects such as Ramadan food distribution, Eid-ul-Adha meat distribution, and winter provisions distribution.
