On May 10, 2024, northeastern Afghanistan faced severe rainfall and flash floods, affecting 21 districts across Baghlan, Takhar, and Badakhshan provinces. Following the havoc, over 300 people, including many children and women, have died, with over 240 injured and thousands left homeless due to destroyed or damaged homes. Search and rescue efforts, aided by ANDMA, continue amidst expectations of rising casualty figures. Urgent needs include emergency shelter, medical supplies, food, water, and hygiene kits.

HHRD has operated in Afghanistan since 2014. By May 2024, it's implemented 12 programs across 29 provinces, serving 239,014 in 2023. In 2024, initiatives include supporting 2,600 orphans, aiding 200 children with disabilities, and serving 9,705 patients. Additionally, 1,500 individuals benefit from skills development, 890 from education support, and over 50,000 through seasonal programs.
